TIFF 2024: UK films and co-productions
The Toronto International Film Festival runs from 5-15 September and the programme includes a strong line-up of UK films and co-productions including 14 Gala and Special presentations and 17 world premieres.
Cosima Spender, Peter Cattaneo and Uberto Pasolini bring their latest works as Gala presentations with Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe, The Penguin Lessons (starring Steve Coogan) and The Return (featuring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche) respectively. Filmmaking royalty Mike Leigh will be honoured with the TIFF Ebert Director’s Award. Leigh’s Hard Truths (featuring Marianne Jean-Baptiste) will enjoy a Special presentation.
Also screening in Special presentations are Bird, the fifth feature from Andrea Arnold (starring Barry Koeghan) and Rungano Nyoni’s sophomore feature On Becoming a Guinea Fowl (starring Susan Chardy). Filmmaker Mahdi Fleifel's first feature To A Land Unkown and Sandhya Suri's first fiction feature Santosh will screen in TIFF’s Centrepiece programme.
