Synopsis
When the corpse of an 11-year-old boy is found washed up on the beach of a small British coastal town, the community becomes the focus of a police investigation, led by out-of-town Detective Inspector Alec Hardy (David Tennant), who gets the position over local Detective Sgt. Ellie Miller (Olivia Coleman). They are forced to work together, as more members of the community slowly join the investigation and a telephone engineer finds himself in the spotlight when he admits having a unique connection to the case.
