Daughters

Directed by American activist Angela Patton & Canadian music video director Natalie Rae, this tender and powerful film reflects on the inhumane prison system and its lasting effects on families. As the fathers and daughters prepare for the in-person event, we explore the complex gamut of emotions that come from such a rare opportunity. Co-produced by London-based Object & Animal.

Synopsis

As part of a unique programme in a Washington D.C. prison, four young girls prepare to meet their incarcerated fathers for a special dance event. With in-person visits shutting down across the United States since 2014, both the fathers and their daughters prepare themselves for the event itself, as well as the emotional fallout from it.
