Written and directed by British filmmaker Carol Morley, and co–produced by the UK’s Cairo Cannon, this powerful film was nominated for the Grierson Award at the BFI London Film Festival. As well as interviews with Joyce’s friends, colleagues and ex-boyfriends, British actor Zawe Ashton acts out dramatised reconstructions. After Joyce Vincent died alone in her North London bedsit in 2003, her body remained there - undiscovered - for three more years. With newspapers not even able to provide a photograph of her, we delve into Joyce’s life, discovering who she was before the heartbreaking circumstances of her death.
