Not long after being jilted at the altar, Jane (Sally Hawkins) is diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and battles not just that, but a mostly unsympathetic family. Medication offers some reprieve, but things could be looking up when she meets eccentric singer-songwriter Mike (David Thewlis).
