Partly shot in stunning black-and-white by Irish cinematographer Robbie Ryan, this wildly bizarre film won the Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival. Based on the novel by Scottish author Alasdair Gray, Emma Stone is fantastic in the role of a young woman exploring both the world and herself. Co-produced by the UK’s prolific studio Film4.

Synopsis

After Bella Baxter (Emma Stone) attempts to take her own life, she is nursed back to health by brilliant but unconventional scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe).
