Propelled to fame by his portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman, Christopher Reeve had a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralysed from the neck down. After becoming quadriplegic, he became a passionate advocate for disability rights, leading the quest to find a cure for spinal cord injuries.
