British director Clio Barnard’s BAFTA-nominated debut feature looks at the life of Bradford-born playwright Andrea Dunbar, who struggled with alcohol addiction throughout her life. Mixing social realism with dramatised scenes - brought to life by UK actors including Manjinder Virk, Christine Bottomley and Neil Dudgeon - the film is smart, innovative and moving. Synopsis

Blending documentary and fiction, the tragic story of late playwright Andrea Dunbar is revealed via archive footage and interviews with her family, including her daughter Lorraine (Manjinder Virk). Dunbar wrote about the challenges she faced growing up in Bradford’s housing projects, with the film bringing to life performed excerpts from one of her most famous plays “The Arbor”.
