Synopsis

Leaving England for New Zealand, lay preacher Thomas Munro (Guy Pearce) inadvertently finds himself in the middle of a bloody war, as two Māori chiefs - Maianui (Antonio Te Maioha) and Akatarewa (Lawrence Makoare) - fight for control of the region. After rescuing Rangimai (Tioreore Ngatai-Melbourne), a wounded Māori woman, from an ambush, he teams up with both her and a widow named Charlotte (Jacqueline McKenzie) as tensions continue to rise.
