The Front Room

Max and Sam Eggers - twin brothers of Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Northman) - mark their debut as writer-directors. Based on the short story by the UK’s Susan Hill, and co-produced by British-Iranian filmmaker Babak Anvari and the UK’s Lucan Toh, the supporting cast includes British-American actress Kathryn Hunter as the electrifyingly unnerving mother-in-law. Co-produced by London-based Two & Two Pictures.

Synopsis

Belinda (Brandy Norwood) is a heavily pregnant anthropology professor whose usually patient nature is tested to its limit when her extremely religious and wholly overbearing mother-in-law (Kathryn Hunter) moves in. As she oversteps and undermines, Belinda realises she has to take a stand, for the sake of her unborn child.
