This Oscar-nominated film is co-directed by skilled British animators Peter Lord and Jeff Newitt. A smart and enjoyable screenplay by UK screenwriter Gideon Defoe - who also wrote the books the film is based on - is brought to life by a talented British voice cast including Martin Freeman, Imelda Staunton and David Tennant. Co-produced by Bristol-based studio Aardman Animations.

Synopsis

In a bid to win the prestigious Pirate of the Year title, a spirited captain (Hugh Grant) and his crew set sail with a dream of beating their rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek). As they travel from the gorgeous shores of Blood Island to the fog-filled streets of Victorian London, they fight an intelligent queen (Imelda Staunton) and collaborate with a young scientist named Charles Darwin (David Tennant).
